QIB Sponsorship
Invest in ME Research is pleased to acknowledge the Quadram Institute as a Conference Week Sponsor for the
upcoming International ME Conference Week at Hinxton Hall,
Wellcome Genome Campus, Cambridge.
The charity thanks the institute for supporting the conference week and contributing to the continued development of
biomedical research into myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME).
The Quadram Institute is supporting the
Young EMERG Symposium (25–26 March)
by contributing the awards for the best poster and best oral presentation.
These awards recognise high-quality research and
encourage early-career investigators to engage with the field while helping to strengthen the Young EMERG network.
About the Quadram Institute
The Quadram Institute, based at Norwich Research Park in the United Kingdom, is an
internationally recognised centre for research into food, microbiology, gut health and human disease.
Scientists at the institute investigate the interactions between diet, the
microbiome and human biology and brings together expertise in:
- Microbiology
- Immunology
- Genomics and systems biology
- Metabolism
- Clinical investigation
Through collaboration between Quadram Institute Bioscience laboratories and the Quadram Institute
Clinical Research Facility, researchers combine clinical studies with molecular and systems-level biology to investigate
complex chronic diseases.
Research Relevant to Myalgic Encephalomyelitis
Quadram Institute researchers are studying areas relevant to myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME), including the gut microbiome,
metabolism and cellular energy, and immune-driven inflammation. This reflects the view of ME as a complex, multi-system disease
needing linked work across microbiology, immunology and clinical medicine.
The Quadram Institute, with the support of the Invest in ME Research, is establishing a centre of excellence for fundamental and
ranslational research into the causes
and treatment of ME.
Professor Simon Carding co-leads the European ME Research Group (EMERG), which brings together European researchers and clinicians to
strengthen biomedical ME research.
Quadram’s support for the Young EMERG Workshop presentation prizes helps early-career scientists enter the field and
develop new ideas in ME research and conference week sponsorship supports the charity’s aim of bringing together clinicians,
scientists and international experts to speed progress towards better understanding, diagnosis and treatment of ME.
