Invest in ME Research - Facilitating Fast tracking Research into ME
An update to our previous news item from May.
The charity has been quietly working away these past months looking into new research possibilities and how best to move things forward.
We planned, arranged and carried out the London conference week events in May/June this year - which not only saw the biggest biomedical research Colloquium ever as well as the annual public conference - but also saw the initiation of a new conference to establish a network of young researchers for ME - Thinking the Future for ME.
Invest in ME Research decided to continue to fund PhD student Fane Mensah and his research at UCL.
Our contract with UCL will allow Fane to complete his PhD studentship over the next eighteen months and so fulfil our commitment
that we initiated in 2013 to develop this research.
Fane has been working under the supervision of Professor Jo Cambridge and the title of this project is -
Metabolomics And B Cell Metabolism: Pointing The Way To Understanding Disturbed Immune Function In Patients With ME/CFS
The project will look at B cells and other immune cells’s energy requirements
in response to different stimuli (in conjunction with metabolomics studies with
Christopher Armstrong - both of whom met for the first time at the Invest in ME Research #BRMEC6 Colloquium in 2016).

All funds are used to progess biomedical research into ME.
Invest in ME Research is run by volunteers - patients or parents of children with ME - with no funds used for salaries.
